Melissa + TJ | Petoskey, Michigan Wedding | Boyne Mountain Resort + Double K Estate
August 4th, 2018
Melissa and TJ. Their kindness is only matched by their beautiful model faces. I seriously don’t know how these amazing people keep finding me in this huge internet sea, but I am so glad these two did. Their love for each other is quiet and sweet. If you spend any amount of time with them, you’ll see how deep it runs. They are so genuinely caring and kind that being around them puts you at ease. They were concerned about one thing on their wedding day: that their friends and family had an amazing time. And we all did! This was my first time visiting Petoskey and I’ll never forget it. Melissa and TJ, thank you for having me at your beautifully moving day of love!
Welcome to this breezy wedding. Grab a s’more, splash your feet in the creek, and enjoy the ride.
We began our journey at the Boyne Mountain Resort. What an amazing place, it’s like its own little village! There’s skiing and shops and restaurants and beautiful people getting ready for their wedding.
Can we talk about the gorgeous details on Melissa’s wedding dress?
And that sleeeeeve. Seeing hers made me seriously consider getting my own.
And this black on black on black wedding suit? Choice.
Melissa’s life is an enigma to me. She’s a flight attendant and travels all over the world. For such a fast-paced life, I’m amazed at her calm and reflective soul. She has a great eye for art and documents her travels on the gram. You’ll also meet her hilarious cats.
Time for the first look!
Next, we hopped on a trolley and drove to the Petoskey shoreline.
Then we drove to the ceremony spot at the magical Double K Estate.
Welcome to the ceremony spot! This was a HOT summer wedding. We were all thankful for this angel.
When I can, I love getting this shot, with the mother of the bride taking it all in.
TJ’s dad married them and he was hilarious.
With all of the tears and sweat, I don’t think there was a dry eye to be found.
Right after the ceremony we snuck away, along the creekside, so that they could have some time alone (with me, lol!).
I got to stand in the middle of the creek for this shot. It felt so gooood.
And here we have an unsung hero. XD Thanks, Leesa.
Taking a moment of silence for this gorgeous red boutonniere.
And this stunning red and sage bouquet.
It’s party time.
YES… Give me all the tears!
A couple after my own heart: CAKE.
One thing I loved was how relaxed their wedding day was. The Double K Estate was so big and had so many twists and turns along the creek that people could wander and just enjoy themselves. As the sun set, people cracked out the s’mores and stuck their toes in the water.
I couldn’t resist these two.
TJ is an amazing photographer himself, so I handed him one of my cameras and he went to town! I loved the sass she gave him, lol.
What a beautiful, beautiful day.
