Theresa + John | Nautical Ovation Yacht Wedding | Detroit, Mi

The first wedding I ever photographed was on a boat, so Theresa and John’s wedding felt like coming full circle. The day started out cloudy, threatening rain. As the guests arrived on a shuttle to the Ovation Yacht in Detroit, Mi, there were a few distant cracks of thunder and we all nervously laughed as we walked to the ceremony site on the water. I’m so glad that Theresa and John decided to risk having their ceremony outside, it was a powerful and beautiful view of an approaching storm and an approaching new season of two lives becoming one. I wish I would have timed the ceremony, it was probably only five minutes! And that’s all we needed to get these two married. After taking a few portraits by the shore, we followed the guests inside so that we could take off down the Detroit River.

The rest of the night was a relaxed and beautiful celebration. An intimate setting of close family and friends made this reception a delight to capture. Dancing, conversation, and laughter filled the wind-blown decks as we marveled at the stunning Detroit skyline. Theresa and John, congratulations! I wish you even more joy and love in this next part of your journey together.
