Courtney + Jim | St Mary's Student Parish + Michigan League | Downtown Ann Arbor Wedding
Courtney and Jim make my heart smile. This was my first time meeting them in person and what a treat they are. Courtney is kind, intelligent, vibrant, and generous with her welcome and her love for people. And Jim is her compliment, with strong character, a deep love of family, and wisdom in loads. Their day was beautiful, from start to finish.
We started at the Ann Arbor Michigan League, where they both got ready. Courtney’s details were a delight to photograph, from her art deco invitations, to her unique pointed heels, glistening earrings, gorgeous off the shoulder wedding dress, and that unique draping hair crown. Magnifique. (Look out for the dress Courtney MADE and changed into at the reception… like what??) And what a beautiful building! It was my first time here and I was stunned by the beautiful getting ready rooms. And the wedding day coordinator, Claire, was a dream to work with. Making sure all of us had everything that we needed. Courtney’s bridesmaid were a formidable team too, helping my short self hang up the wedding dress, acting as stylists during Courtney’s portraits, and romping through the rain with us to help carry bags and that big beautiful train. Jim’s groomsmen were just as sweet, helping me set up furniture in the hall to get portraits, and being down for photos all the time.
They had a beautiful Catholic ceremony at St. Mary’s Student Parish. You know I love tears during a ceremony and Jim let his flow. And who could blame him? After the ceremony, we were kissed by rain drops as we made our way through downtown Ann Arbor. (You’ll see my camera flash umbrella in a few photos, so glad I had that with me!) We stopped at the Michigan Theatre to see their name in lights and found cover to take wedding party photos at the Nickels Arcade. Our last stop with at the University of Michigan Museum of Art before we made our way back to the reception to dance the night away. Courtney and Jim, thank you for letting me witness the beginning of your married life together! I know that your life will only grow more full of love and joy with each passing day.
